Week Four Prayer Guide for 40 Days Fasting & Prayer
1. Read Hebrews 12:1-3
Pray for endurance to run the second half of this 40 day fast and the ultimate race that is set before us. Pray that the Lord will shine His light over your life to see those things that hinder you from working more closely with Him. Ask for the grace to make quick adjustments as He points them out.
Declare that I lay aside every weight, and any sin which so easily ensnares me, and I run my race with endurance, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
2. Read Matthew 15:8-9, Isaiah 29:13
Pray that the Lord will do a heart work in your life. Pray that your encounter on this journey will count for eternity. It will be an inner work of purity, love, holiness, and reverence for God.
3. Read Matthew 15:10-20, Hebrews 9:13-15, Proverbs 4:23
Pray that as you have been cleansed, you will continue to guard your heart with all diligence.
Declare that every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted is uprooted from my heart and from my life. My heart is cleansed from every dead works and alive to serve the living God.
4. Read Philippians 4:6-9, John 17:14-17
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you filter through what is not true or pure, to cut anything away from your heart or mind that is not praiseworthy or of good report.
Declare that my heart is cultivated and God conscious. I am in the world, but I am not of the world. I know who I am in Christ, and I am sanctified by the Word, which is truth.
5. Read James 4:7-8; James 1:5-7, 1 Kings 18:21
Pray that you will not be double-minded, and your heart will not stray from God’s word. Pray for the wisdom of God to be in operation in all you do as you stand on His promises.
Declare that I submit myself to God daily, therefore I resist any work of the enemy around me.
6. Read 1 John 3:1-3, 2 Cor 7:1 AMPC
Ask for grace to live worthy of the sacrifice of Christ for you.
Declare that I am preserved and kept in the love of the Father. I am cleansed from everything that contaminates and defiles body and spirit.
7. Read Philippians 2:12-13 MSG, TPT
Pray for grace to continue to live in responsive obedience to God and His word. Pray for grace and power to always do what pleases the Lord.
Declare that I will not be tired of maintaining my uncompromising stand on the Word of God and His promises. There is an energy deep within me, God’s energy causing me to will and to do what pleases God.
